TRAINING FACILITY

The Walco Industries Ltd training facility was created in 2017 at our Port Alberni location and started as a penstock training aid. It was built to increase production times by researching & developing practices that not only increase production but also to create procedures for customer needs & to increase safety performance. Located at the facility are various size penstock modules, concrete pads (at various MPa’s), large diameter/height tank for confined space entry practice and rope rescue for high angle and vertical heights.

In 2018, Walco is proud to add another dynamic of safety to their profile by teaching numerous employees on rescue services for technical rope & confined space. This allows us to reduce costs on tasks that include rescue personnel.

WALCO INDUSTRIES WATER BLASTING CERTIFICATION

Here at Walco Industries Ltd, we often work in locations with plenty of naturally occurring hazards & once you add high-pressure water blasting into the mix it only adds to that danger. So, we have created a training program built around safety for our employees dealing with high-pressure water blasting techniques. The blueprint for our training has been designed to improve not only safety but confidence in our workers. Our plan encompasses a collection of methods & procedures throughout the company & the course has been built on the Water Jet Technology Association (WJTA) recommended best practices & procedures.

New employees are paired on jobs with experienced employees in the form of mentorship in order to pass along good habits & to encourage a culture centered on safety. Employees are started with some basic knowledge & practical skills & encouraged to grow from there. Over time & with experience, our employees can improve their certification & go on to teach new workers on the techniques they have been developing.
